Oakland Builders Education Seminars (OBES) provides comprehensive courses in a broad area of building and remodeling as well as thorough preparation to pass the state examination for a residential builder's license.
Building courses are designed to cover all aspects of construction of residential projects using lectures, textbooks and audiovisual techniques.
Founded in 1990 as Michigan Builders Institute, Oakland Builders Institute reorganized under new leadership in 1995, and now teaches in more than 29 community school programs throughout lower Michigan.
Oakland Builders Institute is now under new ownership as Oakland Builders Education Seminars. The commitment to Quality in Education will continue and new seminars will be developed to enhance the current classes.
The school has earned a reputation for excellence in teaching methods, course materials and program content.
It is constantly upgrading its offerings through survey research of all students and site providers and through periodic revisions of its teaching manuals and materials.
Upon completion of an extensive review of its curriculum conducted by an independent third party review panel, including on-site visit by a Western Michigan University professor, Oakland Builders Institute earned the right to offer on-site classes at the three of the major automakers in the U.S.
